Petroleum Development Oman LLC (PDO), the single largest oil producer of Oman introduced an innovative idea to have permanent accommodation for its contractors personnel to have residential, messing, recreational and medical facilities under one roof with a view to standardise the amenities as enjoyed by its own staff at the remote operational locations and to offer an equal base for competing contractors to base their bids on.

In 1998 PDO awarded a contract (C682039) to a consortium formed by the founder share holders of Sahara Hospitality Co. to Build, Own and Operate its Permanent Accommodation facilities for its contractors in Sultanate's major interior oil fields (Fahud & Nimr).

The consortium members/founder share holders of SHC are:

SHC constructed one PAC each at Fahud & Nimr of 672 rooms each having residential accommodation, meals & dining halls, kitchens, storage for frozen, dry & freshes, recreational facilities including outdoor games, beverage outlets, laundries and medical clinics appropriately demarcated for use by various levels of inmates as relevant.

The project was completed in time and the commercial operation started with effect from 1st September, 2000 as per contract terms. Project Highlights
